West Charleston Church of the Brethren

Caleb Kragt

Caleb is a recent graduate of Bethany Theological Seminary, with West Charleston being his first pastorate (starting January, 2018). He is happy to split his time between serving the church and raising his family.  Children Reuben and Lydia keep Caleb and his wife Allie quite busy. His seminary training included emphases on conflict transformation as well as preaching and worship, and continued learning has recently led to an article on multicultural ministry, drawing from experience at West Charleston, for Brethren Life & Thought (the denomination’s academic journal). This education, along with Caleb’s prior study in Spanish, have served him well at West Charleston (where he has dabbled some in learning Swahili). While God, family, and church are all priorities that could each always add a few more things that “have to be done,” Caleb relishes the chance to gather with friends for board and table games whenever he finds the opportunity. Although Caleb and Irv share most things equally as co-pastors, Caleb’s interests have led him to be more involved with youth activities and Bible Study (especially when the topic was Revelation).
